Our philosophy

Solana Beach Community Preschool was founded in 1986 by Joanne Tranchina and Victoria Holman, who together share more than 40 years experience in child development. They wanted to provide richly varied preschool experience offering more than just a "day-care environment." Solana Beach Community Preschool was originally situated at the San Dieguito Boys and Girls Club before moving to its present home.

We promote a feeling of community that fosters enduring relationships among children and their parents - a feeling that is rare in most preschool experiences. Even the logo of the preschool graphically represents the Solana Beach Community Preschool's philosophies "soft, caring, bonding - with heart!"

Our program utilizes the best of many educational methods in order to individualize a program for each student. Each child's curiosity is used as the motivation for learning in a developmentally appropriate environment. The primary focus is social development: the foundation for successful life experiences. Emphasis is placed on children taking responsibility for their own choices and decision making.

Our staff are child development professionals and long term employees of Solana Beach Community Preschool. We continally improve our skills through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and California Association for the Education of Young Children (CAEYC).
